KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Survey Party Chief, you will work alongside project surveyors to perform a variety of field tasks associated with land surveying. The Survey Party Chief will implement the project directives under the guidance of the Licensed Surveyor and will focus on dispersing project initiatives to field crew members.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with the Licensed Surveyor/Survey Manager/Project Surveyor to ensure survey deadlines and goals are met.

  • Manage multiple projects, and handle day-to-day oversight of survey schedule, progress, and deliverables.

  • Coordinate with project team, contractor, and client to ensure construction stake-out is accurate and communicated clearly.

  • Organize, direct, and manage the field crew’s daily functions while also ensuring accurate and detailed daily upload/download of data, pictures, and field notes.

  • Offer direction and guidance to the field crew daily regarding project status and tasks at hand.

  • Coordinate directly with on-site members regarding the specific services being provided.

  • Implement and ensure all field crew members follow safety protocols inherent of J2, local, state, and or federal standards.

  • Inspect each jobsite for safety hazards and place protective equipment accordingly before starting work.

  • Conduct an onsite safety tailgate meeting to make sure that everyone on the party is aware of any safety concerns, and document accordingly.

  • Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of surveying principles and practices while utilizing advanced techniques, theory concepts, and practices in the surveying industry and related scientific disciplines.

  • Remain proficient in the current software(s) packages/programs used at J2.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum high school diploma (or equivalent).

  • Minimum 5 years of responsible experience in land survey projects.

  • Prior Party Chief experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D is a plus.

  • Thorough knowledge of construction stakeout procedures and practices.

  • Familiar with field procedures for performing boundary and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.

  • Ability to perform all aspects of data collected from field topographic surveys and as-built surveys.

  • Through knowledge of total station, GPS, and data collection, with the ability to adapt to new equipment and technologies.

  • Ability to work outside in all seasons.

  • Ability to travel and work out of town.

  • Must hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a clean, valid driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
