SUPPORTING MULTIMODAL ACCESS WITH NEW SHARED-USE PATH ALONG I-66
As part of the I-66 Express Mobility Partners team, J2 designed 3,700 feet of Shared-Use Path along Fair Lakes Circle to support VDOT’s Transform I-66 project. This trail segment enhances regional bicycle and pedestrian connectivity. J2 coordinated with VDOT, Fairfax County, and other stakeholders, preparing design documents and traffic management plans.
THE CHALLENGE
The existing handicap ramps and signal pole locations had been constructed for a 5-foot sidewalk.



The Solution
THE SOLUTION
J2’s design evaluated existing signal pole locations and worked closely with the traffic engineer to reconfigure the ramps and establish new pedestrian push-button pole locations to meet PROWAG requirements.
