PRESIDENT/PRINCIPAL

Bob Brown, PE

Blueprint-carrying Mike Brady from “The Brady Bunch” was most likely Bob’s biggest inspiration when he wrote his fifth-grade career paper on wanting to be an architect. Bob saw blueprints and plans as “cool”. By the time he entered high school, an affinity for math and science coupled with the exacting nature of old-school drafting and lettering, pulled him towards the pre-engineering electives that were offered. He was exposed to computer-aided drafting and design, which was just becoming available in the industry. Bob’s passion for math, science, and CADD ultimately led him from architecture to engineering as his career choice.

As a Principal and J2's president, Bob doesn’t know what he’ll confront each day when he walks through the office door, but he loves rising to the challenges. A problem solver at heart, his communication style is a mix of analytical and intuitive. Bob is driven by his desire to have a positive impact on the J2 staff as well as our clients.

Bob played baseball through college and, though he acknowledges his fastball is long gone, he continues to be involved with the game as a coach at Herndon high school baseball coach. He has also served his community through service on the Reston Herndon Little League Board of Directors. Bob strives to motivate his teams and he values the contributions of every team member. He applies this same philosophy when working with the team at J2. Bob is married to his college sweetheart, Kate, and together they have raised three children.
