Alfred "Fred" Faryar, PE, LEED AP+

Fred’s journey into transportation engineering wasn’t planned but evolved through opportunity and adaptability. Over his professional career, he has worked across land development and utilities, but it was his exposure to large-scale transportation projects that solidified his passion for the field. Fred thrives in the collaborative nature of transportation engineering, where multiple disciplines come together to solve complex challenges and improve mobility.

Fred has successfully led large-scale projects across transit, roadway, aviation, and utilities, playing a key role in major transportation initiatives for WMATA, Maryland Transit Administration, DC Department of Transportation, and Fairfax County DOT. At J2, he is focused on expanding the firm’s transportation portfolio, strengthening client relationships, and mentoring the next generation of engineers. He believes great leadership is about building trust, fostering talent, and creating opportunities for growth within his team.
