Jim Bishoff, PE

Jim, who has always been fascinated by how things were built, was born to be an engineer. As a child living on the Ohio River, he became interested in different types and uses of bridges. Jim turned to highway design allowing him to tie his love of bridges with the design of structures and, over 30 years later, he’s sure he made the right move. Jim is equally certain that when he and his co-founder started J2, it was the perfect time to form a firm unlike anywhere they had worked before. Their philosophy centered around listening to employees, creating a space where people want to stay, and providing employees a clear path for their future – all vital to J2’s commitment to elevate its people.

Jim counts a large measure of his success to clients who regularly call him for advice – project, professional, and personal. He firmly believes that forging long-lasting relationships is key. But, at the core of everything, are his wife and kids. With grown children embarking on new careers, he and his wife are golfing together and traveling more — they’ve been to almost all 50 states with international travel and countless adventures.
