Moorefield Station Community Park
A DYNAMIC, INCLUSIVE, ACCESSIBLE, AND WELCOMING PARK FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND INTERESTS
The Moorefield Station Community Park consists of 34 acres for active recreational use. The complex includes lit and irrigated athletic fields (two rectangular athletic fields and one diamond ballfield), a large pavilion with a restroom and concession building, three additional picnic pavilions, a recycling area, designated parking areas, and a trail and sidewalk network. J2, in partnership with the Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure and Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services, worked hand-in-hand from the preliminary stages to construction and completion of the park.
THE CHALLENGE
Two existing 26" transmission gas lines bisected the project site. Relocating these mains would have been costly as not only would there be pipe relocation costs, but further costs to evacuate the entire pipeline back to the nearest control valves.

The Solution
THE SOLUTION
The site layout carefully placed the park facilities around the gas easements and, when necessary, crossed the mains on an at-grade condition. The project did not require relocation of the gas mains resulting in no project delays or additional costs for relocation.
