Sterling Neighborhood Park Concept Plan
BUILDING COMMUNITY FOR YEARS TO COME
Under an on-call site/civil and parks design contract with Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure, J2 prepared conceptual design diagrams to explore active and passive recreational amenity options at Sterling Park. The plan encompassed a football field with bleachers, a rectangular athletic field, softball/baseball fields, swimming pool, dog park, restroom, concession, playground, pavilion, driving range, stormwater management/BMP facility, and parking. The concepts were used to evaluate yield potential, establish preliminary budgets, and commence negotiations with current landowners.

CHALLENGE
Reconciliation of a desired park program and budget.
SOLUTION
J2 incorporated a multidisciplinary approach to all planning exercises. Prior to developing concept drawings, J2 worked closely with the client to define goals and objectives and preliminary budget estimates. The design program was tailored by helping the client identify larger cost elements (i.e. SWM, earthwork, off-site improvements, etc.).
