KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Project Surveyor/Field Coordinator, you will work in a team environment as a key member of a professional surveying staff assisting in the performance of boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, platting, right-of-way acquisition, transportation, and construction surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technology.
Key responsibilities include:

Speak with clients regarding field scheduling requests.

Coordinate with internal staff regarding field scheduling requests.

Maintain an active field schedule based on staff and client demands.
-
Direct field crews in daily work activities.
-
Plan, participate in, and document all phases of survey projects.
-
Assist the Professional Surveyor in organizing, directing, and managing the team’s daily functions while also ensuring accurate and detailed daily upload/download of data, pictures, and field notes.

Survey computations for boundary and topographic surveys and construction stakeout.

Drafting of boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, house location surveys, and record plats.

Read, analyze, and understand construction plans, drawings, maps, plats, exhibits, images, land descriptions, field notes, and data to confirm and/or establish the planned layout dimensions and elevations for the project.

Research county records and retrieve recorded documents.

Comprehend legal documents, deeds, and plats to ensure accuracy in the project.

Compile field data to prepare survey base.

Develop plats for recordation.

Reviewing monthly billing reports.
-
Develop survey base information in Carlson and Civil 3D or other relevant software.

Remain proficient in the current software(s) packages/programs used at J2, including Carlson, Civil 3D, and AutoCAD.

Enforce high-quality standards throughout the project.

Implement applicable J2, Local, State, and federal safety protocols.

Train and mentor new and junior-level staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s, Associate’s, Technical, or High School degree (or equivalent).

Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in land surveying projects.

Professional licensure is a plus but not required.

Ability to work both independently and in group environments.

Ability to work and interact with clients.

Proficient with all aspects of computing, drafting, and CAD standards.

Ability to perform deed research, process field data collector files; resolve boundaries, and prepare CAD files, metes and bounds descriptions, and final plats.

Work independently as a one-person field crew or assist the field crew as required.

Proficient with AutoCAD, Carlson, and Civil 3D.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
