July 2026 – J2 is pleased to announce Melissa Palmer, CPA, Chief Financial Officer, as the firm's newest shareholder. This milestone reflects J2's ongoing commitment to internal ownership transition and developing leaders who will help strengthen and guide the future of the firm.
“Ensuring J2’s future by elevating proven leaders who embody our mission, vision, and core values is critical to sustaining our legacy,” said Bob Brown, PE, J2 president and principal. “Melissa has become an invaluable member of our leadership team. Her financial expertise, strategic perspective, and commitment to operational excellence have strengthened our organization and positioned us for the future.”
Palmer joined J2 in June 2022 as Chief Financial Officer and brings nearly two decades of accounting and financial management experience. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Radford University and a Master of Science in Accounting from Strayer University. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who also holds Unanet Implementer Certification, Palmer oversees J2’s financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, banking relationships, audit coordination, and long-term financial planning.
Since joining the firm, Palmer has played a pivotal role in strengthening J2’s financial infrastructure and operational processes. Most notably, she led the successful implementation of a new enterprise management platform, a major companywide initiative that enhanced financial visibility, project management integration, reporting capabilities, and overall business operations. Her leadership has enhanced financial accountability across the organization and equipped company leaders with the tools and insights needed to make informed business decisions. As a member of J2’s leadership team, Palmer has also played an integral role in guiding the firm’s ownership transition strategy, providing the financial stewardship and long-range planning necessary to support the firm’s continued strength, profitability, and next generation of leadership.
“Melissa has helped bring greater clarity, consistency, and discipline to our financial operations while maintaining a strong focus on supporting our people and project teams,” Brown added. “Her leadership has been instrumental as we position J2 for the future.”
Palmer shared, “Becoming a shareholder is an honor and an opportunity to deepen my investment in J2’s future. I’m proud to be part of a leadership team focused on strengthening our foundation, supporting our people, improving how we operate, and positioning J2 for long-term success.”
Palmer’s elevation to shareholder marks another important step in J2’s ownership transition and leadership succession efforts, helping ensure the firm’s continued strength, stability, and dedication to exceptional client service for years to come.
